Donald Kearney

Born in Military family, Donald was born in Northampton, England where his father, an Air Force Sargent, was stationed at the time. From there, Donald lived in Pennsylvania and Delaware before coming to Texas. After graduating High School in Corpus Christi, he moved to San Antonio to attend college at Our Lady of the Lake University where he obtained a degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in music. After college, he was hired at Edgewood ISD where he taught for 25 years. 12 of those years were in elementary music teaching piano/keyboard, guitar, choir, and recorder as well as general music for grades K-5. Upon leaving full-time teaching, Donald took a job as a staff driver for the Meals on Wheels program for seniors. Donald still felt the call of teaching as he was also accepted as instructor at St. John music teaching piano, drums, and guitar.

When he's not delivering meals, or working at St. John's, Donald is very active as a soloist in various churches and has served in the San Antonio Choral Society for 6 years. Claudia Gonzalez

Claudia-Renee was born in Oakland and raised in California's Central Valley. Her musical journey began at age four taking mexican folklorico dance lessons. She loved the music so much that when when given the opportunity to learn an instrument she chose the trumpet to be able to play the songs that she danced to. Being a quick learner, she then began to perform professionally with local mariachi groups soon after. Her talents on the trumpet were translated to concert settings as she spent many years playing in symphonic bands, jazz bands, and chamber ensembles.

In high school, Claudia-Renée led the marching band as their head drum major and worked with the drama club to produce plays and musicals. It was at this time that she began playing other instruments and began giving music theory and trumpet lessons at her local community center. She graduated high school having earned the John Phillip Sousa Band Legacy award along with several medals for her work as a soloist and was inducted into her local theater's hall of fame. Following graduation, she made the decision to relocate to San Antonio to begin college in a brand new environment.

Aside from teaching at St. John Music, Claudia-Renée is currently a member of the all-female mariachi group Mariachi Las Alteñas, who travels around the U.S. and is in the process of finishing their third studio album. She anticipates completing her bachelor's degree in Music Composition and minor in Music Technology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in the fall of 2017. She receives the support of her parents and siblings, who are also studying music at the collegiate level.
